Therapeutic Philosophy
The Theatrical Self vs. The Authentic Self
One of the core concepts woven throughout the therapeutic work at Pillars of Hope is the distinction between the theatrical self and the authentic self.
The theatrical self is the version of you that learned to perform — to appear fine, capable, and put-together even when you were hurting inside. It is the survival self: the one who kept going, kept showing up, and kept carrying the weight so others wouldn't see the struggle.
The authentic self is who you are beneath the performance — your true emotions, needs, values, and desires. The therapeutic process creates a safe space to gently explore the gap between these two selves and begin the journey back to wholeness.
Theatrical Self
- "I'm fine."
- Performing strength
- Suppressing pain
- Surviving in silence
Authentic Self
- "I need support."
- Embracing vulnerability
- Processing emotions
- Thriving in truth
Core Beliefs About Healing
- Healing is not linear — and that is okay
- You are more than your diagnosis or your pain
- Authentic connection is the foundation of therapeutic change
- Faith and clinical care can coexist beautifully
- Every person deserves a space where they feel truly seen

A Note to Veterans
You Served. Now Let Someone Support You.
As a veteran herself, Lateldrin understands the unique emotional landscape that comes with military service — the discipline, the sacrifice, the identity shifts, and the weight that doesn't always have a name.
Veterans and service members are welcome here. The same strength that carried you through service can carry you into healing — and you don't have to do it alone.
